The first time I tried Dhokla was when I was in junior school. Beside the famous Tasty Corner in Mandeville Gardens there used to be another Sweets Kachori shop, where I noticed those big soft cubes for the first time. They were so soft I thought they will be juicy enough and I was in a hurry to return to my school bus. In a few seconds the food choked me. This love hate relationship is still on. I love this snack and it goes on chocking me in regular intervals.
Recently when I was thinking of making some fusion dish, I thought why not use Dhokla and present it in such a way so that there is no chance of chocking. And immediately I thought of dahi (yogurt). The only worry was it might suppress the taste of the Dhokla, which of course was not acceptable. So I gave it a try and it was satisfying to find that the unique and great Dhokla flavor was there and the yogurt made it absolutely smooth. You can try it once and am sure will agree with me.
Ingredients
Dhokla – 2
Yogurt – 200 gms
Rock Salt – To taste
Red Chili Powder – To taste
Sev -25 gms
Chopped Cilantro – For garnishing
Process
Cut the Dhokla into small cubes.
Beat the yogurt and mix rock salt and red chili powder.
Pour the yogurt mixture over the Dhokla cubes.
Garnish with red chili powder, sev and chopped cilantro.
Its as simple as that, but the result is heavenly. The awesome taste of Dhokla but very smooth. I hope you will like it too 😛
